Ariun is an Associate Lecturer of Economics at the Australian National University. Her research areas are poverty, inequality, labour market issues, and microeconomic analysis. Her current research involves modeling a simulation framework for stress testing the household sector in Mongolia using a data from the Household Socio-Economic Survey in order to assess the financial resilience of the household sector to macroeconomic shocks. She is an expert in poverty analysis in Mongolia and has written a chapter on Labour Market, Poverty, and Social Development for the Country Diagnostic Study in Mongolia. Ariun was a lecturer of Economics for the National University of Mongolia and has held various consultancy positions with national and international organizations, including the Economic Research Institute, the Asian Development Bank, and Open Society Foundations. She has a bachelor degree in Economics from the National University of Mongolia and a master degree in Development Studies from the Sophia University in Japan.
