Maria Rost Rublee is a senior lecturer (associate professor) at the School of Social Sciences at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia. Her work uses social constructivism and social psychology to understand how material and normative factors interact to shape elite and civil society conceptions of “security.” Her book, Nonproliferation Norms: Why States Choose Nuclear Restraint (Athens, GA: University of Georgia Press, 2009), received the Alexander George Book Award for best book in political psychology, awarded by the International Society for Political Psychology.
